The Employees' Mutual Savings, Building and Loan Association (EMSBLA) was originally chartered as a savings and loan association in 1914 and maintained that charter until November 1, 1997. At that time the charter was converted to that of a state chartered credit union - EMSBLA Credit Union. In 2007 the name was changed to Empower Credit Union. We are an employer based credit union associated with the Wisconsin Energy Corporation in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Originally, when chartered as a savings and loan association, our thrust was in providing home loans to employees. Since converting to a credit union we have expanded our horizons and now can offer a full line of financial services. New membership is open only to employees, retirees and family members of Wisconsin Energy Corporation and their subsidiaries and affiliates. Family members are defined as spouses, children, parents, and grandchildren of the above households.
